after e-mail discussion with our membership, we have decided to sever our ties with the Meetup website. This decision was made as a direct result of their decision to instigate a fee system requiring payment of $9 per month (US), or $19 per month if we didn't sign up immediately, to continue using their site as an organizing tool, payable by the group organizer. Though our group is growing in membership every meeting, we felt this request goes against the spirit of bookcrossing and what we understood the spirit of meetup to be as well. We also decided that at this stage, our group has grown out of meetup and is quite capable of continuing without them.
